Biography

Rolando José Garay Oviedo is an Agricultural Engineer for Sustainable Development, graduated from the National Agrarian University (UNA) in Managua, Nicaragua. He has a Master's degree in Eco-sustainable Rural Development from the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua (UPOLI), a Diploma in Agro-Meteorology with an emphasis on Food Security from the National Agrarian University (UNA), a Higher Diploma in Integrated Management of Pests and Crops with an Agroecological Approach and Adaptation to the Climate Change with the Integrated Pest Management Program for Central America (PROMIPAC). He worked in the Technical Assistance Fund project (FAT-FUNICA) as an Irrigation specialist, in which he trained technicians, engineers and farmers on issues of efficient water use. He has done research in Irrigation and Water Management. He is the current Coordinator of the Regional Directorate for Agricultural Research in the Western Region of Nicaragua, at INTA. He coordinated regional projects and programs. He is a professor at the Faculty of Agronomy of the Antonio de Valdivieso International University, in which he teaches subjects on Irrigation and Drainage, Topography, Agricultural Production Systems and National and International Reality.
