In addition to being responsible for the impacts of the different agricultural technologies on the industrial aptitude of crops for more than 20 years, I currently coordinate the Agrifood area of ??INIA.
From this group we seek to generate scientific and technological information on agri-food processes and products that contributes to the addition of value, market acceptability and competitiveness of agribusiness chains, with an emphasis on safety, nutritional value and sensory quality. For this reason, we are coordinating both within the institute and with the entire Uruguayan agri-food system, seeking synergies and enhancing capabilities.
The projects and activities related to this subject within INIA are under my responsibility, both as a researcher and as an institutional representative in different areas.
As a researcher, I dedicate part of my activities to rainfed crops (mainly wheat, barley, soybeans, sorghum and rapeseed, and at specific times to sunflower, corn, oats and triticale), but most of my time is dedicated to wheat , interacting with all the links in the chain.
At the same time, the local and international demand for agro-energy includes the proposal of the use of crops as possible raw materials to be used for this purpose. My work in this area led me to be the coordinator of INIA in agroenergies, leading projects both nationally and internationally.
