Biography

Dr. Carlos Henríquez is Professor at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). He did his undergraduate and master's studies at UCR and obtained his Ph.D. from Iowa State University (ISU) in the specialty of Soil Fertility. He has been Research Coordinator of the Atlantic Headquarters of the UCR as well as Coordinator of the Agronomy Career at said headquarters. He has been Director of the Center for Agronomic Research (CIA) of the UCR (2012-2021) center to which he has been attached for 31 years. He is currently the coordinator of the CIA's Soil and Foliar Laboratory (LSF).

He has been president of the Costa Rican Association of Soil Science or ACCS (2005-2010) and of the Latin American Society of Soil Science or SLCS (2007-2009). He has also been one of one of the five Latin American representatives of the Intergovernmental Technical Group on Soils (GTIS) before the Global Alliance for Soils (AMS) of FAO during the period 2013-2015.

In recent years, he has developed research projects related to the application of Geographic Information Systems in agriculture, as well as issues related to soil fertility and nutrition of various crops as well as the effect of the application of organic fertilizers. on the floor. He has participated in the publication of several scientific books and articles as well as conference presentations. He is the author and co-author of 5 books (3 as main author), 33 articles, 32 abstracts. Director of at least 12 graduate and postgraduate theses, and participation in at least 35 other final graduation projects as a member.
