Dr. Eugenia Saini, Executive Secretary of FONTAGRO, participated in FAO’s #Agrovisiones webinar series, an innovation platform aimed at transforming the agri-food sector. This virtual program brings together prominent thought leaders and visionaries in the industry to share experiences and ideas about the future of food and agriculture. Through this initiative, Agrovisiones seeks to explore bold ideas that foster deep debate and critical reflection on building more efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable food systems.

During Episode 4, Dr. Saini highlighted the importance of FONTAGRO, its impact on Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as Spain, and the significance of collaborative work. She also emphasized FONTAGRO’s solid platform for promoting innovation, sustainability, and efficiency in the agri-food sector.

FONTAGRO has a significant impact in this field, achieving tangible benefits in the region, including the promotion of innovation, support for successful projects, fostering sustainability, and strengthening regional collaboration through a unique co-financing mechanism worldwide.

“From our headquarters in Washington D.C., with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), the Global Research Alliance on Agricultural Greenhouse Gases (GRA), and the Global Methane Hub, we drive collaborative projects among researchers from the national technology institutes of 15 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Spain. Throughout our history, we have contributed to the completion of 204 innovation projects, with an investment of more than 150 million dollars. Currently, we are executing 48 projects that connect the efforts of 1,500 researchers in fields as diverse as #crops, #livestock, #food and #markets, #naturalresources, #forestry, and #aquaculture,” stated Dr. Saini.
